Guiderdoni’s astronomy could describe the behaviour of galaxies; it could not tell him why intelligibility, beauty or moral responsibility existed at all. Islam did not compete with his telescope. It placed scientific knowledge inside a larger act of attention, where studying creation could become gratitude without turning gaps in knowledge into proofs.
